Nyckelviksskolan offers one-year college preparatory courses in arts, crafts, architecture and design, as well as a two-year program for Art and Craft Pedagogy. At Nyckelviksskolan, you develop your craftsmanship, material knowledge and sense of form, together with the artistic ability and courage to express yourself independently. The placemaking project "På Sergels torg" is a collaboration between the City of Stockholm, local property owners, trade, industry, and civil society. The aim is to revitalize and co-create Sergels torg, an iconic central plaza, into a public space where people can share cultural experiences. Free for all and created by many.

Nyckelviksskolan celebrates 70 years in 2025 with the exhibition Unboxing Nyckelviksskolan. Many of the school's alumni have previously exhibited at På Sergels torg over the years. This year, it is Nyckelviksskolan's current students who take their place amidst the noise with their dreams and expressions. The exhibition aims to highlight that art, crafts and design are at least as important today as they were 70 years ago for our joy of life, oxygenation, and future professional skills. The audience will encounter almost 200 young people's interpretations and expressions both inside and outside the box. Visitors are also welcome to participate in the workshops and flash mobs that take place in connection with the exhibition at various times.

Nyckelviksskolan På Sergels torg
At Sergels torg, rainbow-colored threads unfold from three pillars, which radiate like an umbrella and form three open weaving stations. Craft education students from Nyckelviksskolan invite the public to an open workshop where you can try weaving with a rigid heddle, an ancient tool in a contemporary context. The colors of the threads symbolize diversity, inclusion and community, values that we want to highlight in one of our most important public meeting places. It is a visual tribute to everyone's equal rights. Visitors can weave themselves, in colors that unite, with the support of the students. A poetic, physical and collective meeting in the heart of the city. The workshop is conducted by students from Nyckelviksskolan under the leadership of artist and teacher Leyun Wang.

Nyckelviksskolan
In a quiet flash mob, Sergels Torg is transformed into a giant weave when up to 50 students from Nyckelviksskolan weave together and individually. Yellow warp threads are stretched over the graphic pattern of the square to create a new image of the place when they are crossed over each other and between the weavers. The weavers are also each others counterweights to keep the tension of the threads. If someone moves, the person at the other end is affected. The large group of people creates minimal movement but at the same time they build a monumental installation and a multitude of small woven ribbons. The flash mob is created with students from Nyckelviksskolan under the direction of textile artist Matilda Dominique.
