The Swedish Weaving Academy was founded in 2017 and aims to promote and work for the practical and theoretical work of professional practitioners in the field of weaving in Sweden. By arranging exhibitions, symposiums and lectures, the Swedish Weaving Academy creates meeting places and discussions around different perspectives on weaving. And thereby contributes to highlighting the role and importance of weaving in society, both historically and in the present.

This textile exhibition is based on sketch work, showcasing the process prior to the final woven piece – everything from watercolours and sketchbooks to various methods, thoughts, and drafts from the loom. The exhibition opens up a window into the preparation and creative processes of weavers. A sketch, a draft, used to communicate an idea and plan the work ahead of a major artwork.
