MakeUp is an art association for crafts, aiming to spread knowledge about contemporary crafts and support practitioners within the art form through acquisitions. The association is run by Nina Westman, Matilda Kästel, Anna Fernell and Jenny Edlund.

MakeUp Art Association has invited a selection of contemporary crafts practitioners, each working from distinct material traditions, to engage with the theme of Synesthesia. Synesthesia refers to the interconnection of the senses—an overlapping of perception in which experiences are interpreted and felt through multiple sensory channels. This phenomenon, the subject of extensive research, is currently understood to encompass some seventy variations that span all senses as well as abstract concepts. For this exhibition, the invited crafts practitioners have taken synesthesia as a point of departure, allowing the theme to inspire personal interpretations articulated through diverse materials and techniques.
