Irene Agbaje is a fiber artist, in recent years she has woven in copper and materials more suitable for public spaces. The limitations of textile technology - its tightness, almost rigidity - appeal to Irene. She never pretends that the loom is a camera; art never claims to depict reality, but it nevertheless takes from it. Shadows, light, movement, spaces, change - still images of the environment nestle into her art.
