Run by artist-curators from Finnish, Swedish, and Chinese backgrounds HOLLS is a collaborative project working across ceramics, textiles, and jewellery. It establishes a shared platform where their individual practices engage with themes such as desire, consumption and decay, romantic love, spells and magical beliefs, bodily emotions and the tension between object, body, time, material, and haptic visuality.

The exhibition takes its name from a surrealist game in which participants agree upon a set of assumptions about a possible object. In this context, the game becomes an inquiry into what happens behind the scenes of creating an exhibition. It brings together the works and processes of the five participating artists at various stages of completion. Through this, it explores how different artistic practices and themes can meet, overlap, and be shared between the show’s producers and the audience.

The workshop invites participants to explore processes of transformation, interpretation, and collaboration through a playful engagement with materials. Using a selection of reused and recycled materials, participants will experiment with different ways of combining, altering, and reimagining existing objects and materials. The workshop will encourage open-ended making, where ideas can develop through experimentation and where the process is as important as the final result.
