Woolgathering means letting your mind wander, like the woolgatherers of the Renaissance, that seemingly aimlessly gathered loose tufts of wool caught on shrubs from passing sheep. The word has a trivializing tone, but can also be seen as a creative state, in which reality melts away and something else sharpens and rises to the surface. In this exhibition, Flock uses craft as a door into daydreaming. Where do your thoughts wander when your hands are busy with repetition, or working by themselves? What do you notice when you let yourself wonder without a goal?
