Drift

Scandinavian artist collective Drift consists of four textile artists from Sweden, Denmark and Noway: Malin Mattebo, Sofie Karlsson, Ann-Maj Risgaard-Nielsen, and Sofie Alm Nordsveen. The collective was formed during their studies at HDK-Valand. Since their Master's graduation in 2024, they have organized several exhibitions and participated in recedencies. Focusing on the body, spatiality, and feminine histories, the members of Drift works across intimate and large scales to reveal hierarchies surrounding traditionally female-coded forms of making.

Strå

Utilizing techniques such as plaiting, weaving, patchwork, and embroidery, the members have explored hair both as a material and an artistic theme – individually as well as collectively. The project, initiated following a joint residency, investigates what happens when hair is used as an artistic medium, lifted from its original context to be processed and reshaped. The exhibition Strå offers multiple entries into viewing material and craft, prompting discussions around shifts in value and sustainability.
