Repetition

Repetition is essential to all craft. The iteration of stitch after stitch, coil upon coil, rotations on the potter's wheel, the chisel’s strike. Through repetition, the movement becomes one with the body. The hands reflexively know what to do, deepening the understanding of the material. In the accustomed movements of muscle memory, the mind finds rest. In the exhibition Repetition, six craft artists explore what repetition does to the material, the hand, and the mind.
