The new art collective NEEJ consists of four artists who met during their studies at HDK-Valand. Two textile artists, Elina Säfsten and Johanna Engström, and two jewelry artists, Ellen Axberg and Nora Hellsén. With applied arts as their starting point, they are now reuniting in a joint exhibition.

Four artists. Four elements. An exploration of conditions, matter, and surroundings. During the exhibition In Their Element, textile and jewellery art meet through sculptural works and images where the inherent qualities of chosen materials are activated, interpreted and stretched. Earth, air, fire and water do not act as themes in a traditional sense, but rather as starting points for thinking with one’s hands: about time, body, and transformation. Observations of inner and outer landscapes are translated into works that move between the tangible and the intuitive. Together, they form a rhythm where the elements emerge as co-creators in the artistic process.
