Mafune Gonjo works with "simple" materials such as crushed glass and tape, which are transformed to sculptures through repetitive processes. She creates narratives of rebirth and transformation, where light and shadow play a central role. Originally from Japan, Gonjo has been based in Sweden since 2008. She has exhibited both nationally and internationally, including at the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm and the Toyama Glass Art Museum in Japan .

The artist Mafune Gonjo presents an installation for quiet reflection, as well as new works inspired by her grandmother's textile pieces. Gonjo shows how material and memories can be given new life by reinterpreting textile craft methods in the medium of glass and pushing its boundaries. The artist will be on site to meet visitors. The exhibition is made possible with the support of the Bengt Julin Foundation.
