Linnea Dalstrand's artistic practice operates at the intersection of textile sculpture and spatial installation. She is curious about monumental voids and lavishly decorated or draped surfaces and is fascinated by the historical abundance of textiles, often with a focus on the history of the curtain. Dalstrand is based in Fengersfors, in northern Dalsland, and works closely with textile fabrics in both production and processing through weaving, sewing and dyeing.

IASPIS is the Swedish Arts Grants Committee’s international programme for visual and applied arts. It is aimed at professional artists in the field of visual arts and design with an artistic practice in, for example, visual arts, photography, design, crafts, illustration, textile art or architecture.

In October, textile artist Linnea Dalstrand concludes her sixth and final month at IASPIS, the Swedish Arts Grants Committee's residency in Stockholm. The studio at IASPIS is transformed almost daily through sketches made directly in the material, and now there is an opportunity to visit her studio and see her ongoing work. During the residency, Dalstrand has begun a project of weaving her own double-width fabric. In this way, she gains greater control over the material's origin and production, as well as expression and originality. In parallel, Dalstrand has deepened her interest in the history of curtains, which constantly permeates her practice.
