In this solo exhibition, Marie Beckman is showing a series of ceramic works that can be seen as a continuation and development of the geometric sculptures she displayed in her 2016 exhibition at blås & knåda. Now, just as then, the foundation is the interplay of line and light, and how the form lives and changes as the light travels and the shadows shift. The ceramist Marie Beckman has been active in her studio outside Skara since the mid-1980s. ”Burnt earth, terra usta, is my material. Throughout human history it has been very meaningful and powerful, used for vessels, buildings and much more. Today, the concept of burnt earth has darker associations, war and wildfire. The destruction in the wake of human actions”

This year, Blås & knåda is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary. In the members' exhibition "2075", the cooperative's members reflect on the conditions for craft, which have changed in many ways since the start of the cooperative half a century ago. Where will this art form be in another 50 years? Is there a place for the presence of the hand, for the small scale production, and for the cooperative business form? Or have future technology and AI taken over?

In the member exhibition “2075” the question was to our members what they think about the future. Where will the arts and crafts be in 50 years? Is there room for the presence of the hand, for the small-scale and for the cooperative? Or have technology and AI outcompeted us? On Sunday at 2:00 PM, Pompe Hedengren will be giving a lecture and holding a conversation on the topic. Pompe Hedengren is an artist and artistic director. Pompe works with creating exhibitions, films, books and digital works. Together with his artistic team, he has won international awards and among his clients are the Royal Swedish Opera, the National Museum, the Concert Hall, the Nordic Museum, the City Theatre and the Modern Museum.
