Almgren sidenväveri & museum

At K. A. Almgren Silk Weaving Mill and Museum, the present meets the past. As the only active silk weaving mill in the Nordic region, silk fabrics and ribbons are still woven on original machines in their authentic factory setting from the 1860s. It is also a venue for exhibitions and programs infused with the art of textile craftsmanship.

Stretches

Through patchwork, textile artist Ellen Dynebrink works with themes concerning the textile as a historical and aesthetic object, as well as the relationship between gaze and image. The textile itself serves as the recurring motif, originating from a long-term collection of photographs and images of textiles. Through distortions and noise created by the processing of the images, as well as her choice of materials and technique, a tension arises in the relationship between the material constituting the works and the textile objects in the source images.
