Huang & Van Allen

Zipei Summer Huang is a contemporary artist working with jewellery and spatial installation. Born in Shanghai, she moved to Australia in 2009 and is currently undertaking her Master of CRAFT! at Konstfack University of Arts Crafts & Design, in Stockholm.

Sorrel Van Allen is a Canadian artist based in Stockholm. She holds a BFA from NSCAD University, Canada, and a certificate in contemporary silver from Bishopsland Educational Trust, UK. She is currently pursuing an MFA in Craft at Konstfack University.

Tender Structures

Two distinct practices into dialogue through questions of space, material, and transformation. The exhibition considers boundaries not as fixed divisions, but as sites of encounter, where environments, materials, and experiences overlap and shift.

Zipei Summer Huang explores how feelings for one’s home can be translated into jewellery, working with construction materials like steel and concrete alongside cotton, porcelain, and paper. Sorrel Van Allen explores how surfaces can become more than boundaries, working with enamel, organic residue, tin, and silver plating.
