Public Art Agency Sweden’s mission is for art to be accessible and innovative where we live and work. They create and manage the cultural heritage of the future through producing public art and acquiring art of all kinds, including crafts and handicrafts, for the state’s art collection. They are also co-organizer of this year's full-day conference together with Konsthantverkscentrum, Norwegian Crafts, and The Danish Arts Foundation. More info about the conference will be published soon.

The guided tour takes the visitor through Public Art Agency Sweden’s exhibition "Träet talar" from the very down-to-earth encounter with the raw material via spirituality and mysticism, and the search for the soul of nature. The tour takes about 45 minutes.

An unstoppable force of nature captured in a frozen moment, a set of tools that can no longer be used, and leaking wood. The Public Art Agency will showcase an exhibition with works by around 40 artists who all work with wood in different ways. The works are part of the agency's collection of public art and are either made of wood, or depict, use and allude to wood. You will encounter crafts, handicrafts, sculpture, painting, photography and video created from the 1960s to the present day. The exhibition brings together the organic and the industrial. Join in on a journey going from the down-to-earth encounter with wood via spirituality and mysticism, nature romanticism and the search for the soul of nature, to a microcosm where insects, beneficial animals and pest, eat and are eaten.

In a playful drop-in workshop children aged 6-16 (younger children must be accompanied by an adult) can try building and experimenting with wood. The workshop begins by looking at, discovering, and talking about exciting creations and ideas in the exhibition "The Wood Speaks." Together with educator and artist Kristoffer Svenberg, you are taken on a journey of discovery among artworks that are made of wood, look like wood, or allude to wood. Afterward, you get to create your own works from sawed-apart pallets and Velcro straps, in a kind of "Velcro Lego."
