Emelie Liljebäck’s artistic practice revolves around the heritage of the countryside and the generations of women who have surrounded her – women shaped by their society and therefore made responsible for tasks that have been assigned low value. She is interested in what takes place in the everyday and explores traditions, social structures, and roles from various perspectives.

With her works, Emelie Liljebäck wants to highlight the invisible work that still exists in today's society, yet often framed as belonging to the past. Drawing inspiration from traditional gestures of recognition – such as the awarding of a gold watch or medal for long and faithful service – it centers on names submitted during previous exhibitions: mothers, aunts, friends, and foremothers whose stories have remained outside official histories. These figures symbolize the countless women whose unpaid domestic labor has gone unacknowledged. The exhibition serves both as a celebration and as a critical reflection on the women’s legacy that continues to shape today’s society.
