Konsthantverkscentrum

Konsthantverkscentrum (The Swedish Crafts Centre) is the only straight-out membership organization in Sweden, aiming to promote professional Swedish crafts and support their 800 members, as well as strengthen craft as an independent artistic discipline.

Konsthantverkscentrum is also one of three promoters of Stockholm Craft Week and organizer of this year's full-day conference 1 October, together with The Public Art Agency Sweden, Norwegian Crafts, and The Danish Arts Foundation. More info about the conference will be published soon.

Wall Bangings

In this duo exhibition, Bogil Lee and Karina Nøkleby Presttun reflect on the lives of materials and the significance for a material-based artist to create in times of material abundance and a growing sense of climate crisis. The exhibition provides a space for conversations and discussions on how crafts and craftspeople can create change and contribute to a sustainable future.

Nøkleby Presttun creates sculptures, primarily from discarded materials. In her hands, the material is reinterpreted and given a new form, new contexts and new values. This intervention also occurs in Lee's work; by working with both natural and synthetic fibers, he explores the relationship between the natural and the artificial by creating, dissolving, and re-create.

Workshop Snirklande stygn

Welcome to a workshop with the textile collective P.A.N.G., for children aged 4–13. With a needle and thread, but using paper instead of fabric, participants get to create a winding piece together. Greetings or wishes, drawings or secret messages – what would you want to pass on? All the parts of the garland will be joined with stitches: small and neat, or big and wild. You can take your own garland home afterward or let it become part of a larger, collective work of art.

Workshop leaders: Mi Tjio, Helena Lagerqvist Kuoljok, and Karin Holmberg, all members of the textile collective P.A.N.G.
