Kakan Hermansson primarily works with ceramics, addressing themes such as violence, power, aesthetic values, and sexuality. Over the past year, she has delved into the history of craft and how this art form has found its place within the Swedish welfare state. Artist Linda Persson has a material-based approach, mainly through sculptural and filmic processes. In her practice she explores contexts of colonialism as manifested in landscapes, the body, and language.

The term "ex-voto" is traditionally a Christian custom where votive offerings are given to a deity as a wish or in gratitude for a fulfilled promise. The offerings are usually placed in a church, where the worshiper seeks grace or wishes to show gratitude, and can take many different forms. In this workshop, you have the opportunity to create your own non-sacred votive offering in air-dry clay, together with Kakan Hermansson and Linda Persson. Everyone—regardless of faith—is welcome to participate!

Ex-Voto is a project by the creative duo Hermansson & Persson, which has resulted in an exhibition of the same name. The two artists share an interest in the body's peculiarities and spiritual ponderings. An ex-voto is meant to fulfill a wish or act as a gift. The presence of the hand is palpable in their respective materials. The clay, like the sand in the glass mass, uses the heat of the fire to take form. One material demands patience in its slowness, while the other requires a sense of speed and quick thinking. What they have in common is that the materials are transformed from sludge into eternalized hardness.
