Since graduating in 2000, Auli Laitinen has worked with jewelry art exhibiting her own work, curating craft and teaching. Using textiles, metal, and images, Laitinen investigates materials as carriers of meaning – and views adornment within a critical context that reflects contemporary society.

The exhibition invites reflection on the way people express themselves in public spaces. Accessories and jewellery are presented as “outer layers” – cultural and personal markers that both shape and reveal our identities. By occasionally working with generative AI in Photoshop, the artist explores how technology interprets and reproduces these layers, and what underlying assumptions become visible in the process. The exhibition positions jewellery as a contemporary art object through which questions of free will, self-image, and the influence of visual culture are brought to light.
