Malmstens is part of Linköping University and offers bachelor's programs in furniture carpentry, furniture upholstery, and furniture design. The school has customized facilities with well-equipped workshops, and the three programs, all centered around furniture, provide unique opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange.

The technology designers communicate their two-dimensional ideas before the production of three-dimensional works, has a long history of development. The chosen technique, i.e. the medium the designer chooses to use, exerts influence on the final form. In the exhibition highlights and discussions of this fact will be presented by a selection of drawings, drawing technique tools and other forms of representation.

Under the supervision of representatives of Projektrum Augsburg – John Funkquist and Andreas Nobel – an outdoor workshop is given. They will collectively build large light weight constructions with the help of slats in alet wood that they steam bend, twist and then lash together. The technology allows for a fast and dynamic work pace. Big architecture with small means. • John Funkquist is a cabinetmaker, designer and teacher at Konstfack • Andreas Nobel is an interior architect and works as a professor of furniture design at Malmstens.
