Åsa Lockner is a craft artist who has also curated exhibitions and worked as operations manager and project leader within the field since her graduation from Konstfack University of Arts Crafts and. In her artistic practice, Åsa searches for a balanced disharmony, which so far resulted in jewelry art. However, something is about to change – her works are gradually expanding with a clear upward shift in scale.

The time to ask the uncomfortable questions is now. We need to step up and start to understand how the landscape of our lives is changing. Our attention has become the most valuable commodity an individual has to give and it could be argued that delving into one's own thoughts will be more exclusive pastime in the future. Where do the crafts stand in in such a scenario? Åsa Lockner is educated at Konstfack and has been active both as a practicing artist/craftsman and as a curator/project manager in the crafts field. Lockner has sought to develop a balanced disharmony as her visual signature, and until today, the focus of her work has been directed at field of jewelry making. ”Åsa Lockner at Verk” shows how a gradual expansion has become a clear shift in scale in her work.

In connection with Åsa Lockner's exhibition at Verk, there will also be a public conversation with Åsa along with ceramicist Mårten Medbo and designer Finn Ahlgren. The conversation will be moderated by Susanne Helgeson, author and journalist. "To live in a time of change is to be exposed to a constant questioning of the value in doing based on contemporary sometimes hasty conclusions. It is high time to capture our collective ability to see the challenges and derive drive from the fact that change is inevitable. Welcome to a conversation about resilience, a system's ability to handle changes and continue to develop, and above all about how, with the power of the collective, we should create the conditions to guide development."
