Kulturhuset Stadsteatern

Welcome to Kulturhuset Stadsteatern – the huge glass building on the main square that houses the Stockholm City Theatre and the City Arts Centre. The building in itself is an architectural landmark, and inside we offer art exhibitions, activities for children, several libraries, cafés and restaurants, theatre, debates, cinema, dance performances and concerts.

Råsnickra – en utställning om bruksslöjd

Everyone should be able to do carpentry. Just like everyone should be able to write. Not everyone needs to be good at it, and it doesn't need to look perfect, but being able to join a few pieces of wood into something that resembles and functions as a piece of furniture should be basic knowledge. Welcome to a workshop where you will learn the noble art of basic carpentry and build your own piece of furniture under the guidance of furniture designer Finn Ahlgren.

With reclaimed wood, a saw, and a drill, you as a workshop participant will build your own piece of furniture. The only requirements are that it holds together, is somewhat comfortable, and that you can carry it with you after the workshop. The course is part of the public program during Stockholm Craft Week, which means there may be visitors observing the course.

Stickbio: Vi är fortfarande här/Mii leat ain dás

The theater will have dimmed lighting during the film, and each cinema seat has a foldable table where you can place your things and snacks. So bring your knitting, crocheting, lace-making, macramé, or any craft of your choice and join us! P.S. If you happen to forget your knitting, we have materials available to borrow!

About the film "Vi är fortfarande här/Mii leat ain dás"
Far in the north, in the small village of Máze, stands an abandoned house with a strange history. In the late 1970s, seven young Sámi artists arrived here with a dream of creating together. They packed their red bus with paintings and traveled around to share their art with their people. When the expansion of the Alta River threatened to drown the village, they became part of the resistance.

AW-workshop: Skräpkonst

Valuable or worthless? What materials will become the raw materials of the future? Welcome to an inspiring hands-on workshop with artist Johanna Törnqvist, who will start by showcasing and discussing her artistic journey. Materials are included, and drinks and snacks can be purchased at the Teaterbaren.

Johanna Törnqvist works with materials that lack conventional value, challenging the way we perceive the worth of today’s materials. How do we view our assets and resources? What will the raw materials of the future be? And where does the value lie, in the material itself or in the craftsmanship? With needle and thread, she transforms waste into adornments for both spaces and bodies.
