LOD is an association of six silversmiths and goldsmiths who have been creating silver hollow ware and jewelery since 1999 in the joint workshop, shop and gallery in Stockholm. All have degrees from Konstfack University College of Arts Crafts and design. The group behind LOD conducts solo and group exhibitions both in their own gallery and at other galleries in Sweden and abroad.

UTSTÄLLNING / EXHIBITION • Andrew Hayes på LOD
Vernissage/Opening: 1 oktober 12.00-18.00
2 oktober 11.00-18.00, 3 oktober 11.00-15.00
Medverkande / Artist: Andrew Hayes
“The book as an object is full of fact and story. I take my sensory appreciation for the book as a material and employ the use of metal to create a new form, and hopefully a new story.”
About: The works of American sculptor Andrew Hayes are shown exclusively during Sthlm Craft Week at Gallery LOD. Using iron and books as material, Andrew creates new stories. He uses materials that have completely different values, historically and in contemporary. Together they become something completely new and get their own narrative voice.
”The book as an object is full of fact and story. I take my sensory appreciation for the book as a material and employ the use of metal to create a new form, and hopefully a new story.”
About artist: Andrew Hayes grew up in Tucson, Arizona and studied sculpture at the University of Northern Arizona. A large part of his early sculptural works in steel are inspired by the desert landscape of his childhood. During his time as a Core Fellow at the Penland School of Crafts, Andrew was able to explore various materials and techniques. Surprisingly, the book became a large part of his exploratory work. In this work, he faces the challenge of combining the hard properties of iron with the delicate materiality of the book page.
